Saint-Julien från monsterårgången 2010, som nu verkligen kommer till sin rätt och visar sin exceptionella klass...

Slottet ingick i Château Beychevelle tills ägaren dog och lämnade efter sig så stora skulder att delar av Beychevelle fick säljas. Branaire-Ducru har namn efter två tidigare ägare, Jean-Baptiste Braneyre och Gustave Ducru.

Sedan 1988 har familjen Maroteaux gett 4. Cru Branaire-Ducru en efterlängtad renässans. Framgången beror på flera åtgärder. Både vingårdar och vinkällare har revitaliserats. Skördeuttaget hålls nere genom grön skörd och genom att låta gräs/ogräs växa mellan vinraderna.

Lanseringen av andravinet Duluc de Branaire-Ducru, som görs på druvor från yngre vinstockar, har indirekt lyft ”Le Grand Vin” – till att bli ett av de bästa köpen i Médoc överhuvudtaget.

Elegant and concentrated without straying into overpowering. Black fruits, stones, earth and spice. Will age for decades but it so drinkable already.

The 2010 Branaire-Ducru has a lovely mélange of red and black fruit, hints of dried blood and autumn leaves suggesting that this is moving into its secondary phase. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, a fine bead of acidity, good body and a fresh marine-tinged finish that is an absolute joy.
